Membership: Letter to Members
Dear Fellow HBS Alumni:
During this club year, the HBS Alumni Club of Northeastern
Ohio, the oldest HBS alumni club*, will be celebrating a
significant milestone as Harvard Business School observes
its centennial. We have an exciting year planned to
commemorate 100 years of leadership in management education.
I look forward to welcoming you back to the club or seeing
you at your first event.
Continuing our tradition of leadership
among the HBS alumni clubs, we are undertaking the unprecedented
by hosting 100 programs to celebrate 100 years of
HBS. Sixteen of these events will be our traditional breakfast
and dinner programs, and we are adding 84 member-hosted events.
The goal of these additional 84 programs is to:
- Provide
a broad range of informal social and educational
events
- Allow for greater networking through more
intimate events
- Encourage increased family participation
by including family-oriented activities
- Create a stronger
bond among our members
We are quickly filling up these 84
member-hosted events, so please contact me at your earliest
convenience if you would like to host one or more of these
events. Some events already planned include an outing
to see a Cavs game at the Q, a luncheon to discuss trends/opportunities
in healthcare, a playdate at the Akron Zoo for members
with children, a day-trip for motorcycle enthusiasts, and
numerous Community Partners events (including a 7/24/07
event at St. Martin de Porres learning more about the great
things going on there and at E-prep and our club's
support).
Since joining the club, I have found the programs
to be thought-provoking, and the relationships I have formed
to be invaluable. I hope you share my views on the value
of membership in the club and are as excited as I am about
reinforcing existing friendships and forging new ones.
I would encourage you to sign
up online and to sign
up for membership this year to share in the exciting events
we have planned.
Sincerely,
T. Martin Butler
President
* Our club was founded before the Harvard
Business Review was founded, before
the case method was established as the primary method of
instruction, and before the campus was built!
